EICR - An electricl installation condition report

What is an EICR Report?

An EICR Test is an Electrical Installation Condition Report. This is an inspection of a properties electrical installation in order to ensure its safety in line with the current BS7671 regulations

Why would i need one?

Some electrical faults are difficult to see or know they are there, so having an electrical inspection carried out by our skilled electrician will help check the current integrity of your installation. Checking for damage or deterioration will reduce the risk of fire and electrical incidents within your home to ensure its safety and reliability.

In April 2021 it became necessary for all business owners and landlords to have a mandatory 5 year periodic inspection within their properties.

If you are buying a new property, having an EICR test can alert you to any electrical issues and help protect you from unexpected costs prior to completing the sale.

what does an eicr report involve?

EICR Testing has to be completed by an approved electrician who is able to carry out both a visual and electrical examination of your installation. This inspection includes:

  • Checking for defects and deterioration
  • Areas in need of repair of replacement
  • Cracks, breaks and overheating
  • Older distribution boards that no longer meet the requirements.
  • Circuit testing both live and dead
  • Earthing and  bonding checks for sufficient protection
  • Testing of sockets light fittings and switches

What happens after the test?

After completion of the test, our approved electrician will provide you with an electrical installation condition report (EICR) which contains coded information regarding the the installations condition.  The report will either show the installation to be satisfactory or unsatisfactory. An unsatisfactory report will show areas in need of improvement. SF Rees Electrical will be happy to quote for the remedial works to gain a satisfactory report.

When will i get my report/certificate?

  • Our trusted electrician will aim to have your report ready within 48 hours of the test being carried out.

What happens if the report is Unsatisfactory?

  • Our testing electrician will code the work that is required and will offer to quote for any remedial works to be carried out.
